EXCLUSIVE: Five Things You Didn't Know About Sydney Rockers Edgecliff

Pic: Bridget Mackay

From high school friends to rock and roll bandmate brothers, Sydney's Northern Beaches rockers Edgecliff first sprang to life officially back in 2021. Combining their rich and varied musical upbringings and backgrounds, the group have carved out a sturdy name for themselves in a significantly short space of time, with previous tracks Waitless, Belong to the Crowd, Calling for More and, most recently, I'll Be Gone, showcasing the band's burgeoning sonic identity as a melting pot of classic and more modern rock hues.

Inspired by Powderfinger, everyone's favourite rock and roll dads Foo Fighters and some sparkling guitars and keys inspired by Wolfmother, I'll Be Gone arrives fully-loaded with fiery riffs, organs and raspy flourishes, lyrically capturing the multifaceted experience of arguments, both external and internal. And marking the first single of 2022 for the band, I'll Be Gone is a charging new entry from Edgecliff as they look to releasing even more new material and loading up on live shows in the not-too-distant future.

Armed with a new tune and plenty of toe-tappin', riff-smashin' sonic flair, their latest release may be titled I'll Be Gone, but Edgecliff are certainly here to stay; come join Edgecliff today as they dive deeper into their own band backstory, sharing five little known facts about themselves via The Soundcheck for your reading pleasure today. Read on to get to know more!

FAMILY MATTERS

One thing that really surprises everyone is that Nick and Jesse are actually cousins. I think people really get knocked back from it because they are so different!

KARATE KID

Another thing that really surprises people is that Jacob has a black belt in karate. He has been doing freestyle karate since he was 7 and received his black belt when he was 14!

JACK(S) OF ALL TRADES

Three of us (Jesse, Kai and Will) actually all work together at the same company doing our construction landscape apprenticeships. Hit up Capital Landscapes if you need some work done!

HOUSE PARTY

We all love some good house music! We’ve got a few mates that are DJ’s and we love showing our support by getting to as many shows as possible.

NERD ALERT

Another one is that we are all absolute nerds. Mostly for the Marvel and Star Wars series. We love going to the cinema to catch every new movie possible.
