FAVE 5: Brissie power pop king Liam Morton shares his current musical crushes!

If you were to look up "charm" in the sonic dictionary (it's a thing, right?), chances are you'd stumble across Brisbane artist Liam Morton and his dreamy indie pop ways. An artist extremely well-versed in cleaving glossy melodics and jangly Aussie appeal, Morton's previous life playing in a number of bands on the Brissie scene ultimately led to a journey of self-discovery, a solo career and, as of last week, a brand new single in the form of My Baby.

Drawing dangerously close to being a literal ray of sunshine, My Baby oozes with effortless hooks and driving guitars that elegantly balances its bittersweet narrative content with the airy instrumentation bubbling away beneath Morton's creamy vocals.

“This track is basically about me not getting things right and not being the best version of myself. I pushed it too far and the elastic band that was my relationship broke, then I felt sad and then I wrote this song.” - Liam Morton

From rocking out in bands to finding his way as a solo artist, Liam Morton is certainly not slowing down as the bizarre year that is 2020 finally draws to a close. And off the back of his single launch for My Baby just last night at The Bearded Lady in Brisbane, today Liam shares his Fave 5 up-and-coming artists to steal for your playlists. Read on below!

SYRUP

Their music is the perfect soundtrack to a Saturday night.

SYCCO

I heard Sycco’s song 'Dribble' on Triple J recently, really clever pop songwriting.

Tia just dropped an album, definitely give it a listen. PSYCHO is my favourite track on the album.

DAISY & THE WHITE JACKET

Mates of mine so I’m a little biased here, but still a fan. Their song Far Too Young has a great hook, I’m all about it.

Saw them play last night at The Woolly Mammoth in Brisbane. Put on a great show and will definitely see them again.
