INTERNATIONAL FEATURE ARTIST: Leaving Eden (USA)

There's no denying it - Americans sure know how to rock and/or roll, and for female-fronted trio Leaving Eden straight outta Boston, Massachusetts they've certainly come to the party with a diverse mix of heavy metal, rock and badass tude that has seen them recently sign with Sony offshoot Dark Star Records (and sign pretty much every body part along the way).

Now with a brand new album in the pipeline after last year's melodic brawler 'Out of the Ashes', there's no doubt Leaving Eden will continue to tirelessly bring their pounding tunes and high octane shows to the masses and beyond. But before this trio kick 2018 into high gear, guitarist, bassist and vocalist Eric Gynan took a few moments to chat upcoming projects, mouse traps and the beginnings of Leaving Eden. Interview below.

  • BAND NAME: Leaving Eden

  • BAND NAME: Boston Massachusetts Area, USA

  • BAND MEMBERS: Myself, Eric Gynan: Guitars, bass, keys, vocals Ryan Manning: Drums and samples Eve: Lead Vocals

  • HOW DID THE YOU GET STARTED? In the beginning, I auditioned Eve, before Leaving Eden and then we co-founded Leaving Eden. Ryan came highly referred and he worked out perfectly!

  • HOW LONG HAS LEAVING EDEN BEEN GOING FOR? Well over 10 years, we've been around the block. We've been to 47 USA states, Europe and Canada.

  • WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES? Black Sabbath Disturbed Shinedown Fleetwood Mac Janis Joplin Social Distortion Suicidal Tendencies

  • DESCRIBE LEAVING EDEN IN THREE WORDS: Energetic, female, rock

  • WHAT'S THE MOST MEMORABLE GIG YOU'VE PLAYED SO FAR AND WHY? There's been so many and having the opportunity to play with people that have passed like Ronnie James Dio Vinnie Paul Dimebag, those things can never happen again. I got to say playing with Alice Cooper really was very cool. Is theatrics were mind-blowing and he hung himself on stage. Too cool!

  • WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE LEAVING EDEN SONG AND WHY? I think our song 'Out of the Ashes' off our 'Out of the Ashes' album is a great song because it speaks about Rising like the Phoenix out of the ashes. It pays tribute to the ups and downs in the music business but it takes on really any meaning for anyone who has gone through the trials and tribulations of life and managed to rise above.

  • WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON RIGHT NOW? ANY NEW THINGS ON THE HORIZON? Thru Dark Star Records/Sony Music we got Three songs off our Out of the Ashes album to be Featured in the Movie's/TV Series;"

Lockdown" Movie Director: Massimiliano Cerchi Song: Out of the Ashes

Movie "Mayday" Movie Director: Massimiliano Cerchi Song: Skies of Grey

Movie/TV Series "Jezebeth" Written/Directed by Damien DanteSong: No Soul

Touring and the release of our next Album, “Descending”.

  • IF YOU WEREN'T PLAYING MUSIC, WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU BE DOING? That's a loaded question because I'm sure anybody would answer nothing else but music. But if I'd have to answer I would probably say producing mixing recording. I'm getting into the movies more so that's cool too.

  • IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND WITH ONE OTHER BAND, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY? Ha! How do I answer that? Fleetwood Mac cuz I can jam out with Lindsey Buckingham.

  • PINEAPPLE ON A PIZZA, YES OR NO? For me plain cheese pizza or maybe some veggies but definitely no pineapple. I'm a pretty basic pizza guy.

  • CATS OR DOGS? I love both but cats because they can manage on their own for a while. And they're cool because they do things on their own terms. Reminds me of a joke; the cat went up to CST Peter at the Pearly Gates in St Peter said in or out in or out?

  • WOULD LEAVING EDEN SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE? Sure. Just use your fight or flight instincts. I know I could be a hunter because I had to seek and destroy a mouse in the dark because he wouldn't keep quiet. Mousetraps didn’t work and every time I turned the light on to find him he would shut up so I had to crawl on my hands and knees in the dark ever so slowly to find him.

  • AND FINALLY, WHAT'S THE GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME AND WHY? All You Need Is Love by the Beatles. Love John Lennon's voice and the harmony as well as the message.
