INTERNATIONAL FEATURE ARTIST: Shellshock Lullaby (USA)

They're a pop-punk trio who wear their hearts on their sleeves and serve their punk with a slice of EDM; all the way from Butte in Montana, USA, Shellshock Lullaby have spent years crafting their tones and endured the typical line-up changes and ups and downs that comes with the musical territory. But the end result carries an upbeat spring in the synthy steps of Russell Nelson, Hannah Skiles and Andrew Ellmaker that can't help but transport you back to those unforgettable teen pop punk glory days.

2018 has seen Shellshock Lullaby already unveil their latest EP 'Static Noise', plus a brand new clip late last week for 'Without Serendipity' - but in between poppin and rockin, the group took a few moments to chat fave tunes, sparse crowd surfing and which band member would lead the pack in a zombie apocalypse. Interview below.

  • BAND NAME: Shellshock Lullaby

  • BAND MEMBERS: Russ Nelson- guitar and vocals Hannah Skiles - bass and vocals Andrew Ellmaker - drums

  • HOW DID SHELLSHOCK LULLABY GET STARTED? Hannah and Russ met at the Shellshock Lullaby show at Thunder Alley in 2012. Russ met Andrew through our previous bassist, Maggie Perkes in 2013.

  • HOW LONG HAS SHELLSHOCK LULLABY BEEN GOING FOR? 8 years but 2 years with this current line up.

  • WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES? Many but the main ones are Greenday, Goo Goo Dolls, Alkaline Trio, Coheed and Cambria and the 1975.

  • WHAT'S THE MOST MEMORABLE GIG YOU'VE PLAYED SO FAR AND WHY? Our cd release show at the Covellite Theater in Butte, MT for “Static Noise,” our most recent album. All of our good friends and family were there to support and we witnessed someone crowd surf with the absolute bare minimum amount of people required to crowd surf. It was a really fun show.

  • WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE NON-SHELLSHOCK LULLABY SONG RIGHT NOW? RUSS - “We Are The Normal” - The Goo Goo Dolls. Love the instrumentation and the message. HANNAH - At the moment, "Vincent" - Don McLean. It's somber and haunting, despite Don's mellow and pleasant voice. Gives me chills every time, which is rare for a song. ANDREW - Alpha by Karnivool. Fits my mood at the moment.

  • WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON RIGHT NOW? ANY NEW THINGS ON THE HORIZON? We just released a new EP, “Static Noise.” “No Tomorrow” is the latest single, and we just premiered a new music video for "Without Serendipity".

'NO TOMORROW' (SHELLSHOCK LULLABY)

  • IF YOU WEREN'T PLAYING MUSIC, WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU BE DOING? RUSS - Yoga instructor HANNAH - Band Photography ANDREW - has a engineering degree.

  • IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND WITH ONE OTHER BAND, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY? The Aquabats because they are very entertaining and funny. They also seem like super cool dudes.

  • PINEAPPLE ON A PIZZA, YES OR NO? Yes occasionally.

  • CATS OR DOGS? Hannah & Russ say dogs because we grew up with dogs although Andrew owns 2 cats. So we’re divided on this.

  • WOULD SHELLSHOCK LULLABY SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE? We would survive only because of Andrew’s survival and outdoorsman skills.

  • AND FINALLY, WHAT'S THE GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME AND WHY? Jesus of Suburbia by Greenday. It’s a 9 minute timeless masterpiece. Despite being very long it holds your attention through the entire song
