Off the back of a sold-out Aussie tour last year to celebrate 15 years in the musical realms, Aussie pop icon Ricki-Lee has once again found her dance-soaked mojo, returning to jauntier roots this week with the unveiling of a brand new tune Last Night.
Written with and produced by Aussie DJ and producer Throttle (aka the young gun first discovered by Avicii after signing his first song at the age of 14), Last Night evolved practically overnight after a chance meeting between Ricki-Lee and Throttle when the pair were working in the same studio, and fueled by a mutual desire to pump up some smiles and kickstart the ole dancing shoes.
“I’ve been listening to Throttle’s music basically every day for years – so to work with him was awesome, he’s just got such a fresh approach to making music, and it’s very similar to mine…we just wanna make music that makes people feel good!”- Ricki-Lee Coulter
Making the most of the dizzying setbacks presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the extended and unexpected free time of late ultimately enabled Ricki-Lee to switch focus and finally finish the Last Night, capturing personal and professional revelations; that the iso period hadn't diminished her rock-steady relationship with her husband, and just how much her dance and pop roots has resonated with her fans:
“When I toured last year – it reminded me how much my fans love me for uplifting, feel-good music they can dance to! I played the State Theatre in Sydney, which is usually filled with quite a conservative crowd, but after the show they told me they had never seen a crowd jumping up and down and singing like that! And it made me realise I’ve gotta give the fans what they want, what they love!” - Ricki-Lee
Whether you're itching for a new tune to add some bubbly cheer to your day, or you just want an excuse for yet another impromptu living room dance party - come get a taste of Last Night and give in to its sunny vibes.
