MUSIC NEWS: Sydney Heavies Inertia Sign To Resist Records Armed With A New Single

Rising out of the madness of 2021, Sydney alt metallers Inertia have launched into 2022 ready to take on the world, recently signing to Resist Records and today unveiling a brand new single Hivemind from their upcoming EP due out next month.

A track that dynamically tackles anxieties surrounding over-consumption, societal division and modern-day capitalism, Hivemind sonically exerts its torturous thematics alongside emphatic arrangements and sprawling atmospherics. And equally a light amongst the dark is the pop-tinged vocal outing from Inertia vocalist Julian Latouche, deftly bringing vulnerability and strength in equal measures to the emotive track.

"I was dealing with a bout of depression and anxiety dealing with the new world we were all thrown into and the world we all created. The lyrics that came out were a direct reflection of these thoughts and feelings, posing the question; 'Through our habits and desires we’ve created an uncontrollable monster, a parasite if you will, that causes a lot of anguish and hate. And since we created it, do we have the strength to assume responsibility and eventually remedy what we have done?"

- Julian Latouche, Inertia vocalist

Showcasing some insight into what lies in wait on Inertia's impending EP Memoria due out March 18 via Resist Records, Hivemind perfectly also encapsulates the Sydney group's burgeoning status in the alternative realms. With previous supports for bands like Dream On Dreamer, Ocean Grove, Slaves and Thornhill, it seems the Inertia collective hivemind is entirely on track and in sync to level up this engaging bunch this year - and here's hoping some live shows will be largely on the menu as well.

Inertia's new EP Memoria is due out Friday 18 March via Resist Records, for more info head here.
