VIDEO PREMIERE: Hey Ruth (THE BARREN SPINSTERS)

IF YOU'RE A FAN OF FRENZIED TUNES AND FACIAL HAIR, PREPARE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE BRAND NEW CLIP FROM CANBERRA DUO THE BARREN SPINSTERS PREMIERING EXCLUSIVELY RIGHT NOW ON THE SOUNDCHECK!

Clutching at the coattails of 70s blues rock with the swagger of Jack White and facial decoration to titillate the wildest fantasies of hipsters and old-timey enthusiasts alike, The Barren Spinsters bring a heck of a lot of noise to their two-man operation. Comprised of frontman Brendon Houlahan (guitar/bass/vox) and Matt Tennant (drums/vox), The Barren Spinsters inject a touch of thrash to their sweaty brand of rock and roll, and their latest track 'Hey Ruth' shows yet another glimmer of raucous insight into their hotly forthcoming debut album 'Ten Steps to Critical Thinking', following on from their lead single 'West Of The Happiness' which unveiled earlier this year.

But just what is an organ-fuelled, riff-tastic track like 'Hey Ruth' truly about? Why, yum cha and the notoriously anonymous TISM, of course, as frontman Brendon explains: "Ruth, one of my former employers used to date the manager of TISM. Once over yum cha she told me stories of touring with TISM, hanging out washing on fake washing lines mid gig behind the band whilst they performed on stage, and also a cheeky little tale of throwing their vulgar rap cassette tapes out of the car window whilst driving as a form of protest’’.

And now armed with a brand new music video officially dropping this week, The Barren Spinsters continue their streak of tongue-in-cheek frivolity, pairing their toe-tappin' tune with an art student's fantasy of hurling paint, eggs and glitter around the room while the boys keep the tune afloat. And talk about suffering for their art: "Near the end of the clip, one of the cast members does a power slide into the drums. The hi hats were pushed into my hand as I went to hit them, so I essentially punched a cymbal. I ended up in hospital and needed 9 stitches in my hand.” - Matt (drums).

The Barren Spinsters will be unveiling their debut album 'Ten Steps to Cynical Thinking' on the 19th July and embarking on a bunch of live shows starting next week. But in the meantime, go wrap your eyes and ears around their new clip for 'Hey Ruth' below before it officially drops this Friday!
