EP REVIEW: Forever Slaving Always Craving (THE UNKNOWNS)

EP: Forever Slaving Always Craving ARTIST: The Unknowns

Craving a little respite from adulting and the grind? Sunny Coast trio The Unknowns have got just the thing for your 9-to-5 blues with their brand new EP 'Forever Slaving Always Craving' due out this week.

Swinging in as the second official EP for the group, 'Forever Slaving Always Craving' finds The Unknowns in familiar territory, blending bops with rock and whole lotta heart across four tracks (and a fun fact for all you gear heads out there: no effects pedals were used in recording this EP).

Jumping out with lead single 'Doin' The Grind', the Unknowns lads embrace their rollicking roots with a healthy hint of blues creeping through the blazing riffs, before 'Choke' clutches the throttle and bashes blues with some pumping rockabilly that picks you up and barrels you into a 1950s diner with its toe-tapping tendencies.

From here we swing into moodier territory, with the melancholic swooner 'From Where I Stand' oozing distorted thick riffs, before closing track 'I Wonder Why' brings all of the grit and swagger with splashy drums, sizzling guitars and a bassline so sturdy you could set your grandfather's watch to it.

For The Unknowns it's been a busy little run since forming in 2015, and their latest release perfectly captures the trio's vintage brand of rock and roll and undeniable charm. 'Forever Slaving Always Craving' has got us craving to catch this lot live, and if you're up North you'll be able to party on down with the boys with their EP launches later this week.
