SINGLE REVIEW: Blue Begets Blue (JACOB DIAMOND)

SINGLE: Blue Begets Blue ARTIST: Jacob Diamond WA's alt wunderkid Jacob Diamond has been steadily weaving his enigmatic brand of warm and vulnerable folk/rock throughout 2017, with his EP 'Um' released earlier in the year, new single 'Docks' popping up in May and now a brand new sparkler 'Blue Begets Blue' from his forthcoming debut LP (due in early 2018).

'Blue Begets Blue' is in keeping with previous single 'Docks', packed full of dreamy grooves, jazzy keys and bittersweet lyrics belying Jacob's narrative passions for love and pain, declaring "I love you, but I can't love you while I'm in this mess". The track takes some dramatic turns, driven by Jacob's soaring vocals, peaking with moments of blissful falsetto and beautifully controlled crooning; in the hands of many others these theatrics would appear jarring and unnatural, but under the watch of Jacob's twinkling eyes the end result is honest, powerful and, quite frankly, captivating.

Mixed, mastered and produced by Lachlan Carrick (Gotye, Ainslie Wills, Gretta Ray), 'Blue Begets Blue' is a vivid journey that quietly demands your attention, and just another exquisite glimpse into the future album from this self-described 'alt-folk oddity'. Jacob will be officially launching this new track with an intimate national tour, but in the meantime check out 'Blue Begets Blue' - more info below:
