SINGLE REVIEW: Lioness (EMMA ROWE)

SINGLE: Lioness ARTIST: Emma Rowe

Darwin-based singer-songwriter Emma Rowe has a swag of tunes under her belt already, but her recent 2018 anthem 'Lioness' has been roaring all over town lately and paints her as a beguiling one to watch in the near future.

Signalling a significant shift into rockier waters from her 2016 EP 'MRO', 'Lioness' is a moody bopper that explores sharp tones and vocal wizardry, allowing Rowe to subtly reveal her commanding range with a youthful theatricality that at times calls to mind the grittier moments of Kate Miller Heidke with the twang of Missy Higgins.

While at times there's seemingly a slight trepidation of completely committing to the rock gods, Rowe is certainly in control of her fierce and feisty little number, and her continued evolution seems to have only enhanced her emotive, textured chops.

Having just toured 'Lioness' in nearly every corner of the country, it'll be a treat to see where Emma Rowe heads next, but in the meantime you can check out the track and accompanying video below.
