SINGLE: Technology ARTIST: DON BROCO Brit rockers DON BROCO have been blasting around the scene since 2012 with their irresistibly heavy riffs combined with straight up popping ear-candy - and to tease us all ahead of their upcoming third album, they've unleashed a rockin' anthem with brand new single 'Technology'. 'Technology' is an upbeat little number full of toe-tapping grooves, crisp vocals from frontman Rob Damiani and just enough grunt to escalate proceedings from catchy pop banger to a head-banging rager. It's this confident and occasionally complex tone that has permeated the quartet's releases so far in 2017, coming off two earlier singles ('Everybody' and 'Pretty') from their upcoming release. And while at times 'Technology' slows down momentum with an electronic beat and ambient breakdown, the final few seconds is a chunky, riff-fuelled delight that hints at the band's brutal potential - but also showcases their restraint and ability to leave you wanting more. To call these lads sonic chameleons is just scratching the surface, having played through the UK and Europe with the likes of heavies Bring Me The Horizon and Aussie pop-rockers 5 Seconds of Summer. But they also know how to deliver memorable tunes while throwing in a little tongue-in-cheek social commentary - and 'Technology' is no exception, shining a critical light on today's social media obsession. Regarding the single, frontman Damiani says, “‘Technology’ is about a casual swipe through Instagram that ended up in me unfollowing a load of mates. In reality my friends are not vain, self obsessed, PDA loving show offs so I'm blaming social media and the habitual nature of sharing every waking moment of your life online.” The out-of-this-world video accompanying the track focuses on the band through the point of view of a social media-scrolling smartphone, as DON BROCO play a show during a catastrophic alien invasion, to the oblivious attention of the smartphone owner… until their own untimely demise.
