SINGLE REVIEW: Valley of Silence (THE NEW BUZZ FT. KARL S. WILLIAMS)

SINGLE: Valley of Silence ARTIST: The New Buzz featuring Karl S. Williams

Stop, drop and soul - there's a brand new collaboration out today between Brisbane funk collective The New Buzz and heart-stopping crooner Karl S. Williams, and 'Valley of Silence' is a deep-groovin', soul-movin' delight.

From the first few notes 'Valley of Silence' is a heaving mix of heartbreak and elation that gets more addictive with each fuzzy note, and Karl's vocals are just pure honey oozing across a raw and brooding backdrop. No strangers to gritty funk, the combo of The New Buzz with alt. country king Karl is a no-brainer as they bring the grooves up to a sinfully sexy simmer.

The old-school vibes pulsing through this slow jam aren't just a result sultry tones and heart-rending lyrics - the band also have their quirky menagerie of vintage and up-cycled gear, including home-made amps, kerbside collection-scavenged gear, a vintage drum kit, original Hammond and Rhodes keys and a bass guitar that spent the 1974 Brisbane floods submerged in the trunk of an old Toyota. All of this mixed in with Karl's dulcet tones, and it's no wonder the band decided to release the track on vinyl.

Check out the track below, or else head here to get your hands on one of the 30 limited run of vinyls, hand-numbered and sketched by Karl!
