Hot off the press, Melbourne rockers Figures have unleashed a seriously slick clip to accompany 'Alpha', the second single off their upcoming EP 'Chronos'. The track itself is a killer combo of epic hooks, deep riffs and some snazzy production courtesy of Luke Cincotta (Dead Letter Circus, Karnivool, Airbourne). The track showcases everything Figures get just right - injecting grit into some seriously memorable melodies, and their particular brand of melodic rock is catching eyes and ears all over the world. Perhaps fittingly off their recent success, the new single touches on the risks and rewards that comes with the industry, with vocalist Mark Tronson commenting: "Alpha lyrically explores the idea of 'the artists's struggle' through both the eyes of the artist and their supporters, both view points being vastly different. Where a fan may look upon an artist as someone living out their potential in an awe-inspiring or romanticised way, the fact is this: behind the curtain there is a whole world of stress, doubt, financial struggles, anxiety and thousands of other pressures that any artist must endure to achieve and maintain success." The music video clads the band in black and white, and follows them through the lens of friend and photographer Andrew Basso at their recent gigs of late 2016 and early 2017 (including Progfest 2016 and supporting the legendary Twelve Foot Ninja). It's hard not to be drawn in to riff-central by this group, and the release of their EP in June is only going to bring us more of the goods. Check out the clip for 'Alpha' below:
