Back in 2009 when iconic Melb rockers Mammal called it a day, many felt this ferociously-charged musical spark was dead to the world for good. But fast-forward to 2018 and not only have the quartet roared back to life - they've still got more to unleash on the world, and off the back of a year of sold-out shows and new music, they're ending with the gift of a brand new music video.
Closing out after sold out comeback shows, 3 new tracks plus a sneaky tour in London, Mammal have whipped up their fans, both old and new, into a bombastic frenzy, with the new material and wake of heaving crowds highlighting the glaring fact that the gents haven't lost any of their brutality or penchant for anarchy.
Also fresh off singing a brand new international booking deal with the legendary K2 Agency (Meshuggah, Devin Townsend, Satyricon and more), Mammal are ready to grasp 2019 by the fins, already planning a European assault and a return to the studio to finish off even more material, as frontman Ezekial Ox explains:
"Punters in Australia and UK, our previous strongholds, have spoken with their feet on the dance floor over the past year, and we have listened. We’ve ironed out the kinks, and grown together. This new group of songs is going to modernise the classic Mammal sound, whilst still being heavy on the rock, punk and middle finger politics we’re known for. Stand by for some speaker crushing hard funk! Europe and Asia, strap in for the live show soon."
In the meantime, the brand new clip for the belligerent 'Dead' brings everything you'd expect: graffiti, the occasional angry dog and the Mammal boys absolutely ripping it up in a concrete wonderland. Part high-octane rager, part defiant middle finger (and some serious editing props to Gareth McGilvray), 'Dead' is Mammal's closing proof of life for 2018 - and who knew resurrection could sound so epic.
