NEW VIDEO: 'Thread' (SATELLITES)
Set your punk sensors to fire because Brissie boys Satellites have just let rip a new video for their latest single 'Thread' - and if the track is anything to go by, their EP 'Black Dog' due out in September is gonna be a thumping good time.
Starting out in late 2013, Satellites did the rounds with some tours and local shows before some slight bumps in the road with multiple member changes - but instead of rushing out their upcoming EP, they instead decided to take their time to craft their rollicking tones.
And it's this clear-headed mentality that pops through the most with 'Thread', demanding attention with its boisterous riffs but without the faux rebellion that often accompanies the pop/punk/rock realm. Not only does the track kick a fair amount of ass, it's also simultaneously catchy and genuine. When discussing the single's themes and lyrics, vocalist Mitch Chamberlain explains: "'Thread' is about my struggle to come to terms with the fact that I may just have to accept the mould that society has chosen for me. Maybe I was never presented with the opportunity, or maybe, I just didn't have the guts to do what needed to be done to get where I wanted to be. And maybe now I've run out of time."
For those playing along at home (or more specifically, those who live in Brisbane), some of the video's scenery will ring a bell as Mitch makes his way around the river city at night in between glimpses of the band rockin out:
Satellite's 'Black Dog' EP will be available to pre-order in iTunes from next Friday the 18th August, and will be released on Friday September 29th.
