SINGLE PREMIERE: Places (PATIENT LOUNGE)

CHISELING A POPPIER SOUND INTO THEIR TRADEMARK PROG, BRISBANE ROCKERS PATIENT LOUNGE SPIN SOME LUSH DR SEUSS-INSPIRED MAGIC ON THEIR LATEST TRACK PLACES - AND THE SOUNDCHECK IS VERY PROUDLY PREMIERING THE NEW SONG TO BLISS OUT ON RIGHT NOW!

Following a diabolically busy twelve months since forming back in 2019, Patient Lounge have carved a sturdy home in the Aussie prog rock realm, with interstate tours, festival performances and supports for the likes of Haken, Pop Evil and Wolfmother under their belts in a significantly short space of time. And while the group's reputation for heavier wiles was evident on their earlier singles New Man and All You Want, it's on the group's third official single Places that pop and prog merge in warm and whimsical fashion, offering a refreshing sonic smile to a traditionally serious genre.

Already a fan-favourite for the band in the live sector, Places also marks a particularly poignant milestone for Patient Lounge, both from a stylistic and historic perspective. Laden with glistening guitars, swaying grooves and creamy hooks, Places takes heavy narrative cues from the Dr Seuss book 'Oh, The Places You'll Go!' (a resonating gift to frontman Zach Eather and drummer Nick Keogh-Peel from their high school music teacher). And while the sunny demeanour found on Places may tip-toe slightly outside the band's previous rock and roll frivolity, it's also a welcome glimpse into the sonic depth lurking in the Patient Lounge universe as the band flex their diversity and strength beyond broader prog rock confines.

"Places was the first song the band wrote, and has always had a really special place in our hearts. It’s actually the first Patient Lounge song we’d ever had a crowd sing back at us, a while ago now, and man what a feeling. I don’t know that there’s anything like hearing people really connect with the words you’ve written to the point they want to sing along.”" - Patient Lounge

Working alongside Bernie Wedrat at Lush Recordings (The 1975, The Butterfly Effect, Katy Perry) and Ted Jensen (Billy Joel, Green Day, Mastodon) on mastering duties, Patient Lounge continue their penchant for minimal rhythmic editing and quantizing to capture an authentic live sound on Places.

This was the third time we’ve been out to Lush Studios, and it never fails to impress us how professional and high quality that place is. Bernie is a total weapon, and we agreed at the start of the session that while we were stoked with the drum tones the first two times, we wanted to try and push it to a new level this time around. We ended up going for that Bonham sound with a room mic way outside in the hallway. “ - Patient Lounge

For those longing for adventure or perhaps just needing a spark of self belief, come join Patient Lounge on a buoyant ride as the band redefine rock in this rallying and resplendent outing. Places will officially unleash into the world tomorrow, but you can go grab a cheeky listen right now, go check it out below!
