Taken from her forthcoming debut full-length Conversations With Myself due out next month, Pride finds Vetty Vials (aka Yvette Vials) and the gang going all-in on a dynamic blend of garage rock and nostalgic indie tones that at times recalls the punky shimmers of femme 90s alt rock with a glossy garage backdrop - and ultimately signals a confident step into some renewed sonic waters for this bubbling bunch.
Establishing herself on the touring circuit back in 2017, the years between inception and the present for Vetty Vials are ones laden with both professional and personal contemplation and evolution, resulting in a shift in the ultimate creative process and continued sonic expansion for both this new tune and the overall upcoming album as Vetty Vials herself explains:
Conversations With Myself is a combination of songs about feeling lost, dissecting relationships and navigating your 20s. Generally, our songwriting process would start with me writing a song on acoustic and then coming to the band to get their input. I was lucky to change that up a lot on this record. It’s changed the sound dramatically and I’m super happy with how these songs turned out.” Vetty Vials
Continuing to thrive in the tight Aussie pop/punk community, previously snagging supports alongside the likes of Press Club, The Lazy Susans and The Bennies, the upcoming new album for Vetty Vials also marks a first release on Melbourne DIY label Whisk and Key Records, further cementing their ties to the burgeoning scene they delight in calling home.
