SINGLE REVIEW: Ceremonial Blood (ASTRODEATH)

SINGLE Ceremonial Blood // ARTIST Astrodeath

Embrace the sinewy sludge from Sydney duo Astrodeath as they roar in with an ambitious new track Ceremonial Blood, as well as an accompanying music video and tour news for epically good measure.

From recording an impending full-length album, VOL.2, in the dark depths of Sydney's restrictions to returning with new tunes and show news this week, sludge rock duo Astrodeath are ready to flex their bold and bloodthirsty new sonic territory - and it's definitely a journey you'll want to sign up for.

Armed with the thunderous oozer Ceremonial Blood, the pair have embraced the hurdles of the past few years on their new tune, wielding visceral soundscapes, brawny riffs and fluctuating light and shade as they showcase a significant sonic glow-up amongst their trademark hard-hitting wiles.

With plenty of fiery guitars, deep grooves and rollicking segues, Astrodeath draw to mind the cutthroat affability of present day Turnstile mixed with more nostalgic aural flavours, with pristine production and mixing via longtime friend and producer Nick Franklin (Polish Club, Peking Duk, Clews).

With a heap of live performances in their wake, including at Mojo Burning, Thrashville and alongside 1000mods and Nick Oliveri to name a mere few, the 2022 Astrodeath iteration is only just getting warmed up - but to burn things up even more, Ceremonial Blood has also copped an accompanying music video, immersing us all into a comic book/sci-fi realm, complete with illustrations by Glenno Smith.

But wait, that's not all! Astrodeath will also be hitting the road until May for their Ceremonial Blood tour, kicking off in Melbourne at The Gaso on March 3, before heading to Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Hobart, Katoomba, Newcastle and bringing it home back to Melbourne at Cherry Bar.

"Astrodeath was built to tour, the point of us being a two piece being that we can jump in a van hit the road at the drop of a hat. We love jamming and making records, But we don’t do well with idle hands. We’ll keep punching until we land another tour. There’s no chance we’ll give up. We’re busy putting the finishing touches on Vol.2 and Nick (Producer) has outdone himself yet again. The mixes are sounding fat and we can’t wait to get out there for some headbangs!" - Tim Lancken, Astrodeath frontman
