SINGLE REVIEW: Forget Tomorrow (MIGHTY OAKS)

SINGLE Forget Tomorrow // ARTIST Mighty Oaks

Forget your worries and come get lost in some stellar indie-folk as Berlin-based trio Mighty Oaks reveal some magic with their brand new tune Forget Tomorrow.

Bringing together three men from three countries, the charming trio that is Mighty Oaks (comprised of Ian Hooper from the US and Ireland, Claudio Donzelli from Italy and Craig Saunders from the UK) have found themselves frequently in high demand, sharing stages with The Lumineers, Chvrches and Kings of Leon amongst others, and weaving their joyful tones to the masses as they refine their folk-pop wiles along the way. And while the potent existential cocktail of post-tour blues and fatherhood may weary many mortals, it has in fact been this shared experience that has culminated in the group's latest outing: a sparkling little number titled Forget Tomorrow.

Marking a follow-up to the group's previous release of 2019, All Things Go, Forget Tomorrow clutches at pop production amid acoustic-laden melodics and potent harmonies as the trio detail living in the moment and trusting your path. And while the overarching positivity may sit a little saccharine in the wrong hands, the Mighty Oaks gents manage to balance some lighthearted folk charm with a touch of polished indie rock peeking at the edges, culminating in an effortlessly affable outing with substantial expressive undertones.

With the promise of the group's third full-length due for release in 2020, there are undoubtedly some stunning times ahead from this multicultural bunch. But in the meantime, forget tomorrow and get lost in some fresh and frothy fun from Mighty Oaks and their brand new tune - the perfect addition to a lazy summer's day as we tiptoe further into the warmer months.
