HEY YOU! COME CHECK OUT THE BLASTING NEW TRACK FROM BRISSIE GROOVING HEAVIES TORIZON, SPINNING TODAY EXCLUSIVELY ON THE SOUNDCHECK.
Comprising a stellar lineup of local metal veterans, Brisbane quintet Torizon are what happens when hard rock meets grooving modernity and a touch of the progressive, gifting an uninhibited sound that will equally rattle your ears and your dancing shoes.
Tipping their musical caps to Aussie alt-rock luminaries like Cog, The Butterfly Effect and Tonight Alive, this female-fronted powerhouse are no strangers to fiery riffs and emotive thematics, and their latest stomper of a single 'Hey You' due out tomorrow is a potent step forward into blazing rock waters.
Boasting anthemic vocals, toppling beats and hot-blooded guitars, 'Hey You' packs a passionate wallop, not only with its occasional 90s nods, but also with its bold and hard-hitting thematics, as frontwoman Mish explains:
"I drew inspiration for this song from my upbringing. I started seeing loopholes in the strict religious beliefs and their followers at a very young age. I was sexually abused and relentlessly bullied by people in a position of power within these religious institutions for a number of years. Everyone knew but no one said a word or tried to help as they were bound by their belief of salvation after death by their god. I have long overcome that trauma but there is one thing that stayed with me: the idea that people can do horrible things to each other - controlling, manipulating and abusing each other - and hide it behind their fears of eternal punishment. The lyrics talk about finding “Your Own Light” and being your true self, you don’t have to conform to others who tell you who to be just to fit in or out of fear. Trust yourself - you are worth more than living your life controlled by a bunch of rules written hundreds of years ago.”
Signalling an exciting new chapter in the Torizon journey, there's undoubtedly a whole lot more kickass sonic goodness on the horizon for this dynamic quintet. But for now, you can cop an early peek at 'Hey You' below before it officially unveils tomorrow - and be sure to hit up the official single launch show alongside Failed Assimilation at The Brightside in Brisbane on July 27th.
