EXCLUSIVE: Thrice Share 5 x Of Their Fave Aussie Bands

Australia, we don't have long now to wait until the legendary Thrice return down under for their The Artist In The Ambulance 20th Anniversary Tour this August and September.

Recently announcing supports for the upcoming shows, including Wifecult, St Judes and Shangrila, this tour is set to be a monumental celebration of the 2003 opus album The Artist In The Ambulance. Catapulting the post-hardcore heroes to brand new heights, the album also spawned multiple hit singles, including 'All That's Left' and 'Stare at the Sun'.

Two decades on, Thrice have lost none of their potency, and their impending Australian tour has already sold out multiple shows, with added dates already selling fast for these unforgettable nights.

While the celebrations will be centred around all things Thrice this August and September, today come join the band themselves as they share their 5 x fave Aussie bands and artists right now - come dive into Thrice's Australian playlist!

Dust - 'The Gutter'

Energetic, hooky, jangly post-punk from Newcastle. One of our old Aussie tour managers shared this band with me, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Can’t wait to hear more from them.

Wifecult - 'Jasmine'

We’ve been good friends with Brad from La Dispute for over a decade, and can’t wait to tour with him and his new project, Wifecult. It’s reminiscent of early ‘00s midwestern emo/indie — soulful, emotive, and dynamic.

Plini - 'Cascade (Live)'

Hooky instrumental prog with off-the-charts musicianship. Chris Allison is a monster drummer, and Plini is a modern-day guitar icon. There’s so much shredding here, it’s remarkable.

Gang of Youths This is one of my favorite bands alive right now. There is such a power and depth and vulnerability to the music, especially the potently present and unique lyrics and vocal delivery from David. I got a chance to have him on my podcast a few years back and it was maybe the most fun I had recording an episode.

Tame Impala - 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards' Hard to choose a favorite from these guys since there’s a few different vibes at play, but I always love when this one comes on. Great for a nice drive up the coast.
