SINGLE REVIEW: In My Element (GEOFF HOOTON)

SINGLE: In My Element // ARTIST: Geoff Hooton

If you're anything like The Soundcheck, you love you some odd time signatures, and today Brissie singer songwriter Geoff Hooton unveils a jangly 7/4 toe-tapper with his latest single In My Element.

Today unveiling the first single from his upcoming fourth solo album Science and Fact, Brissie artist Geoff Hooton (ex george and The Montgomery Cliffs) has harnessed a riffing funk beast with the punchy track In My Element that captures a galaxy of alt-pop and rock with a modern Aussie twist from a very seasoned performer.

Applying Hooton's love for gnarly basslines with some offbeat riffs, 7/4 beats and poppin' vibes, In My Element draws together Hooton's Ben Folds-esque vocal style with some extra special guests, including long-time collaborator Paul Kerin and an extra-special reconnection with Hooton's former george drummer Geoff Green.

With the impending release of Hooton's new album Science and Fact later this month, it's anyone's guess as to where this passionate multi-instrumentalist will head to sonically with his fourth full-length. But if In My Element is anything to go by, we're guaranteed some jaunty and joyful times ahead by an artist who has fundamentally found his musical happy place - and he's ready and willing to take us along for the ride.

GEOFF HOOTON'S NEW TRACK IN MY ELEMENT IS OFFICIALLY OUT IN THE WORLD TODAY ON HOOTON'S OWN LABEL BLACK DOG MUSIC, WITH HIS FOURTH ALBUM LURKING ON THE HORIZON LATER THIS MONTH. IN THE MEANTIME YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE NEW TRACK BELOW, AND FOR MORE INFO HEAD HERE.
