SINGLE REVIEW: Nov 2 (VENICE ON FIRE)

SINGLE: Nov 2 // ARTIST: Venice On Fire

Uncomfortable conversations and nostalgic alt-rock careen into an upbeat outing with Venice On Fire's latest single 'Nov 2'.

No strangers to sharing musical tales of heartbreak and disloyalty, Toowoomba's Venice On Fire turn their narrative gaze to running into that ex you hoped you'd never see again with their new tune 'Nov 2', building solidly on their previous releases while flexing their rollicking musical muscles more than ever.

Busting out jaunty guitars and bouncing beats, 'Nov 2' hurls out cheery vibes and warm tones like Violent Soho injected with some sonic Prozac that'll get your toes tappin' and head snappin' as you inadvertently find yourself chanting along to the rousing chorus.

While covering some universal topics, the Venice On Fire lads insist 'Nov 2' isn't specifically about one particular person or moment, as frontman Tom Gillespie

explains: "We love telling stories, and I feel most people have felt these emotions at some point...The girl in this story bails the guy up – he’s called Benny in this – and demands explanations for past wrongs, which I think is fair...He then responds with a whole bunch of weasel words, which could be considered an explanation, and it explodes in this fiery argument.”

Marking a sturdy growth both creatively and technically for the Toowoomba trio, 'Nov 2' is a bundle of buoyant fun and a rousing peek into the future course for Venice On Fire.
