Forming just last year, aka the year many would happily forget, Brisbane trio sunbleached spurred themselves on with a barrel of nostalgic nods, as well as a cemented mission statement: to make authentic and inspired alternative rock. Taking cues from streetwear and the 90s, as well as stylistic inspo from the likes of Citizen, Basement and Nothing, sunbleached knuckled down to conjure a trio of tunes, and their impending track Rain On Hot Cement not only stands alone as a slice of warm angst and shoegaze-tinged rock; it also completes the trio of the band's first releases, following Ninety and Passenger.
Balancing thick underlying textures with oscillating light and shade, Rain On Hot Cement instantly transports you head-first into the soundtrack of an indie coming-of-age film. And while the overall effect of the track is one of bittersweet warmth, the combo of dreamy distortion, distant vocals and a crunchy chorus amid the chill can't help but snap your attention and carry you down a dark and winding trail.
