VIDEO PREMIERE: Going To The Beach (DUCKBOI)

ARMED WITH THE RECENT SINGLE GOING TO THE BEACH, THERE'S LITTLE SURPRISE THE BRAND NEW VIDEO FROM WOLLONGONG SURF ROCK WIZARD DUCKBOI FEATURES SURF AND SAND APLENTY; BUT IN TRUE DUCKBOI FASHION, IT'S A QUIRKY DIY ADVENTURE FEATURING THE ARTIST LIVING HIS BEST BEACH LIFE. AND YOU CAN GRAB A SNEAK PEEK RIGHT HERE, WITH THE SOUNDCHECK PROUDLY PREMIERING THE CLIP TODAY!

Hailing from the coastal shores of Wollongong in NSW, Duckboi, aka the solo-project for multi-instrumentalist/prodycer Jack Lincoln, has adapted to the rock and roll world like (I'm so sorry) a duck to water since studying at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music. An abstract and talented artist well-versed in the dark DIY arts, Duckboi ultimately merges lo-fi production with hazy surf rock, with his most recent tune Going To The Beach drawing comparisons to The Growlers, Wavves and Tame Impala with its quirky twists and turns reminiscent of a Tarantino acid trip.

Spontaneously penning the latest tune on his share house couch, Going To The Beach casts no aspersions on its to-the-point namesake, with the track quite literally about heading to the beach and not worrying about a single thing in the process. And it's this carefree geniality that carries over into the impending accompanying music video, with Duckboi heading to the beach in his own unique way (and making me feel less self-conscious about my dwindling surfing skills with each passing year). Filmed across both Warilla Beach and Killalea Beach on the South Coast of NSW, the video sees Duckboi as a typical beach grommit, taking a psychedelic surf trip, as a confused beachgoer looks on. Partnering flawlessly with the DIY and lo-fi aesthetics of the track, the clip is an amusing rollercoaster, taking inspiration from the likes The Chats and Hockey Dad.

“We used both hi-fi equipment and camcorders, really wanted to convey a few different feelings from filmmakers such as Wes Anderson, whilst remaining in a DIY, lo-fi, kinda of ‘dodgy and not well done’ aesthetic. Also, can’t see it in the video but I cut my foot open when sprinting into the ocean after falling off surfboard. We all burnt very heavily on that day. Blood sweat but no tears.” - Duckboi

A modern musical magician draped in retro beachwear, Duckboi will definitely slam a smile on your dial with his latest video (shot and edited by Zac Olsen); plus you'll be able to catch this catchy tune live in action later this month, with some live shows lining up in Sydney next week. But for now, come grab a sneak peek at the new music video before it's official release! Grab your boards, towels and get ready to hit the "waves" with Duckboi!
