MUSIC NEWS: The Butterfly Effect Reveal Album 'IV' Tracklist, Share New Single 'Visiting Hours'

They say third time's the charm, but for Aussie rockers The Butterfly Effect, it's a case of fourth time disarming as the quartet barrel towards the release of their fourth full-length album IV, officially due out on Friday 2 September.

Arriving fourteen years after its predecessor, 2008's The Final Conversation of Kings, IV is set to traverse raw and hard-hitting territory, lyrically detailing love and hate, highs and lows, life and death and beyond; all while mixing a variety of tempestuous melodics, blazing riffs and the trademark Butters ability to sonically charm, shatter and revive with effortless and nuanced ease.

In the lead up to the release of IV, fans have been gifted glimpse via a trail of singles, including the searing Nil By Mouth and ferocious So Tired. But, as of last week, another facet to The Butterfly Effect new sonic chapter was revealed, with the group unleashing a smouldering new single via Visiting Hours; an out and out rock heartbreaker that holds a special place in the band's collective hearts.

"It feels amazing as always to be releasing new music and I really think this song is one of our best. To me it is about our eternal search for meaning and worth. It's about the human condition and an existential crisis that faces us all, but at the same time as asking questions it has an undertone of hope and I hope that resonates with everyone that listens to it." - Clint Boge, vocalist

From the emphatic growl clutching at frontman Clint Boge's vocals to the gleaming guitarwork, driving bassline and cascading drums on full display, Visiting Hours is an instant Butters classic that harks back to some of their earlier sonic territory while also striding purposefully ahead with brooding grandeur.

The first new album for The Butterfly Effect following the band's disbandment back in 2016 and reunion of the original lineup back in 2018, IV opens the door for new and existing Butters fans to immerse themselves into an eclectic and assured adventure throughout the space of ten tracks. And it'll be a jubilant celebration of the old and the new when the band take to stages around the country throughout October, with eleven shows lined up, alongside stellar supports Thornhill and Caligula's Horse, to properly christen IV in all its Butters glory. Tickets are on sale for the shows right now, and visiting hours are indeed open for the brand new track. Grab a taste below and find out more right HERE.
